Lady Panthers Heading Back To Charleston
The Tug Valley Lady Panthers jumped out early and never looked back as they defeated the Wirt County Lady Tigers, 59-37, in the Class A Region IV Co-Final on Wednesday in Naugatuck.
Tug Valley (19-4) jumped out of the gate quickly and took a 16-8 lead after the opening period. The advantage grew to 28-17 at the intermission.
The Lady Panthers took full control of the game in the third period and extended the advantage to 43-25 heading into the final quarter. Tug Valley was not challenged in the final quarter.
Kylie DeBoard was named the Tug Valley Wellness Center Player of the Game with 14 points to lead the Lady Panthers. Bailee Hall followed with 12 points. Katelynn Richardson and Gracie Hynd added 9 points each. Haven Deskins chipped in 8 points. Katie Hall finished with 7 points to finish out a very balanced scoring attack.
Tug Valley will be the 2nd seed in the upcoming Class A state tournament in Charleston. The Lady Panthers will play 7th seed Greater Beckley Christian on Tuesday afternoon at 1pm at the Charleston Civic Center.
