Lady Billies Knock Off Previously Unbeaten Gilmer County In Regional Softball Tournament
The Man Lady Hillbillies beat top ranked and previous unbeaten Gilmer County, 8-0, in five innings in the Class A Region IV softball tournament in Glenville.
The Lady Billies were able to win via mercy rule to drop Gilmer County to 27-1 and into the loser's bracket of the regional tournament while Man now has to win only one more game to advance to the Class A state tournament.
Mia Johnson was fantastic in the pitcher's circle, allowing only 4 hits while striking out 6 batters in the mercy rule win.
Kylie Blevins had 3 hits, including a double and 2 RBIs. Johnson helped her own cause with 2 hits and 3 runs scored. Carly Caserta had a hit and 1 RBI. Gracie Wheatley and Mackenzie Maynard each finished with a hit.
The Lady Billies have played a difficult schedule and are battle tested against some of the best softball teams in the state. That is now paying off when it matters the most.
The Lady Billies will be awaiting whoever emerges from the loser's bracket.
